As it was announced by its Chief Operating Officer Kevin Turner as part of the CeBIT Global Conference, the Redmond company is very pleased with Windows 7 and believes that their product is its best ever created.

Turner himself said: “When you think of Windows 7, we will think it was the most successful operating system that we launched in our history. It is the highest quality operating system we’ve ever launched in our history. “

Despite the lack of humility that might have been showed by its Chief Operating Officer of Microsoft with these statements, its also not very far from reality, considering that only within the first 4 months since its launch its already sold 90 million copies and counting.

However, Microsoft can not jump to glory after the success of this operating system, although most blogs give positive reviews to Windows 7 themes, the competition never stops. And competition is fierce:  Google operating system.

Will Microsoft achieve the goal of 300 million Windows 7 sales for this year?

Outlook 2010 will continue using an obsolete HTML engine http://www.lyndentech.com/outlook-2010-will-continue-using-an-obsolete-html-engine http://www.lyndentech.com/outlook-2010-will-continue-using-an-obsolete-html-engine#comments Sat, 27 Jun 2009 07:18:44 +0000 admin http://www.lyndentech.com/?p=155 Have a look at the picture above. On the left we have an HTML formatted email in Outlook 2000, while on the right we have displayed the same email in Outlook 2010. What is the reason for this huge step backward? Microsoft’s decision to change the HTML rendering engine in Outlook 2007, which previously used IE and now uses the Word. This replacement is due to security reasons, to isolate all of the Outlook security holes in IE, but the great disadvantage now is that it uses an obsolete  HTML engine and it even does not recognize that much of CSS code.

The betas of Office 2010 maintained that engine, and Word remains as limited as before, since it has not improved substantially. So Outlook users are tired, and have launched a campaign to get Microsoft to meet their demands. This campaign is supported by Twitter and is having considerable success, a great example of how to use Twitter for this kind of action. Personally, the website of the product is excellent, with icons for all users as they are joining the campaign. Another thing is for them to succeed, but nothing is lost by trying.
